Hi, I’m Kathlyn

Doula, Mama of five, Hands on homebody , and Serial Crafter with too many projects and not enough drawers.

I’m currently growing a lot of things: vegetables, children, a tiny backyard apothecary—and this work I love as a birth doula. I trained through DONA International, and while I value the evidence-based side of things (because birth nerd forever), I’m just as committed to the intuitive, grounded, relational side of care. The kind that helps you breathe a little easier and feel like, yes, I really can do this.

Before stepping into birth work, I spent over a decade working as a nationally certified American Sign Language interpreter. That world shaped so much of how I move through life—quiet observation, deep listening, respect for language and culture, and knowing when to speak and when to hold space. I’m grateful to carry those same values into doula work, and I welcome the opportunity to support Deaf and signing families whenever I can.

I live in Thurmont, Maryland, with my husband and our five wild and wonderful kids. We homeschool, garden, hike, read way too many books at once, and try not to lose socks faster than we can buy them. Life outside birth is a patchwork of simple pleasures: knitting by the window, mixing up herbal concoctions, feeding chickens and rabbits, and planting things that (hopefully) grow.

I believe birth is holy ground—sacred, raw, and transformative. It deserves to be honored with presence, steadiness, and deep respect. If you’re looking for someone who will show up calmly, laugh with you when it’s time, and hold space when it’s not—I’m here for it, and I’m here for you.
