Hi, I’m Kathlyn Brenneman

Certified Full Spectrum Doula, Mama of five, Hands on homebody, and Serial Crafter with too many projects and not enough drawers.
I'm currently growing a lot of things: vegetables, children, a tiny backyard apothecary, and this work I love as a birth doula. I trained through DONA International, and while I value the evidence-based side of things (because birth nerd forever), I'm just as committed to the intuitive, grounded, relational side of care. The kind that helps you breathe a little easier and feel like, yes, I really can do this.
Before stepping into birth work, I spent over a decade working as a nationally certified American Sign Language interpreter. That world shaped so much of how I move through life, quiet observation, deep listening, respect for language and culture, and knowing when to speak and when to stay silent. I carry those same values into doula work, and I warmly welcome Deaf and signing families.
I live in Thurmont, Maryland, with my husband and our five wild and wonderful kids. We homeschool, garden, hike, read way too many books at once, and try not to lose socks faster than we can buy them.
I believe birth is holy ground, sacred, raw, and transformative. It deserves to be honored with presence, steadiness, and deep respect. If you are looking for someone who will show up calmly, laugh with you when it is time, and cry with you when it is not, I would be honored to be that person for you.
